ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
The presenter is an expert on the ACT, a standardized test used by colleges and universities to determine students’ readiness for post-secondary education. She has designed a protocol for teaching Reading Comprehension and English skills—two of the four core areas tested—in a way that is contextualized and advances students’ overall test-taking skills. One focus involves helping students become more efficient readers, so when they read the humanities, social science, and science passages, they will know how to actively find key concepts that will then match up to the comprehension questions. A second area of focus is to explore how grammar, punctuation, and other language conventions are assessed. The skills learned at this workshop can increase your students’ scores.
Bring your laptops or wireless device.
