ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
The presenter is an expert on the ACT, a standardized test used by colleges and universities to determine students’ readiness for post-secondary education.. She has designed a protocol for teaching English, Reading Comprehension, and Science skills—three of the four core areas tested—in a way that is contextualized and advances students’ overall test-taking skills. One focus involves exploring how grammar, punctuation, and other language conventions can be folded into existing curriculum. A second focus is helping students become more efficient readers, so when they read the science (and other passages), they know how to actively find key concepts that will then match up to the comprehension questions. Additionally, knowing how to “read” and interpret graphs and charts is necessary for success with the Science portion of the test. Ultimately, this workshop will help your students score higher on the ACT.
Bring your laptops or wireless device.
