The 22nd Annual August Institute
"The future is now; teach for it!"
August 5-7, 2020

WMPLC is excited to announce our title sponsor, Blackfoot Communications, has stepped up to offer this year's virtual August Institute conference for free to the first 250 registrants. Blackfoot recognizes the extraordinary and industrious efforts our teachers and administrators have made towards pivoting to online learning during the challenges of the ongoing Covid pandemic. Blackfoot has worked with many of our local schools and communities to ensure broadband internet access to all and now we are pleased they are lending their support towards open access to our conference focused on digital learning that enhances teacher and student experiences.

(Important change:  The WMPLC board has determined that because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the August Institute will be held virtually via Zoom instead of at Missoula College this year. While we are all disappointed, we felt it important to guard the safety and health of all of the participants.

We are excited by the possibilities of hosting a virtual conference! Since the August Institute focuses on the use of technology in the classroom, this is a great opportunity to use the strategies the amazing presenters will bring to you. We are excited to highlight virtual instruction as we recognize that the best learning happens when students feel socially and emotionally connected and have good relationships with teachers. This is a special opportunity to learn new methods to help avoid anxiety and use technology to engage students for success in the classroom. Register soon as we are filling up fast and we hope to see all of you in person at the beautiful Missoula College Campus next year!

As we transition to this new format, you will receive updates, materials and instructions on how the conference will work. We will be using the Zoom video conferencing platform. You will need a good internet connection and a device with camera, microphone, and speakers if possible.

Thank you again for your flexibility in this time. Check your email often because we will be in touch.  ‘See you’ in August!

The 22nd Annual August Institute for educators will focus on technology integration into core content areas. Sessions may include technology, media literacy, art/drama, mindfulness, outdoor science, IEFA, G&T, STEAM, suicide intervention, etc. Join us for one, two or three days of the conference.

WMPLC would like to thank our sponsor:  Blackfoot Communications and our partners:  Big Sky Film Institute, Missoula Art Museum, and Inspired Classroom for making this year's conference extra special.
