In addition to a strong focus on integrating technology into the core content areas with Beyond the Chalk, this year’s conference will have a robust SEL strand. Sessions will include examining “How Your Past Impacts Your Teaching and other Trauma-Informed Classroom Strategies” with Stacy York Nation; “Building Inclusive Teaching and Learning Communities” with Heidi Wallace from EmpowerMT; “Yoga and Mindfulness Tools for the Classroom and Teacher” with Jess Matthiae of Peaceful Heart Yoga; Tobacco Use Prevention with Julia Goar; and “What Educators Should Know about Marijuana Legalization and Youth” with Faith Price from All Nations Health.

Our Indian Education for All strand will feature returning presenter Craig Falcon, a cultural education consultant, producer, director, actor, writer and traditionalist and member of the Blackfeet and White Clay tribes.  Cameron Decker, Educator & Outreach Coordinator at the Missoula Art Museum and painter, printmaker, and ceramics artist will join us for a workshop on “Public Art and Community.” Cameron is a member of the Diné (Navajo) Nation, and a Salish descendant.
