20th Annual IEFA Sessions
Craig Falcon is a member of the Blackfeet tribe and the White Clay tribe. He is a cultural education consultant, actor, and traditionalist. He has taught in K-12, University, Museums and the film industry across the U.S and Canada. His presentations are very interactive, that include Blackfeet language sessions, games and a true look at indigenous history from a indigenous perspective.
His research in cultures across the U.S and Canada has brought his skills into the film industry. Academy award winning film The Revenant, HBOs Lewis and Clark, Winter Count. 1 hour session Healing from historical trauma
In this session, participants will fill out the trauma timeline and learn how to use it with their students in the classroom. A trauma timeline is used the help people reflect on their life and find balance between the positive and negative events they have experienced. Great for Middle School Grade 6-12
3 hours Lodge teachings
In this session, participants take part in raising a traditional teepee, the history behind the poles and pegs, how the lodge connects to the solar system. K-12
2 hour session Native American Cultural Sensitivity Training
Native American awareness training: A crash course from 1492 to present; Pre-Reservation Period; Reservation Period; Residential School Era
Traditional plants and medicines: learn about traditional meds for common colds, smudges, boosting immune system
Ceremonial protocol: basic do’s and don’t of cultural ceremonies
Traditional land mapping: will discuss different tribes and where they came from; the history of that movement; and the effects K-12
2 hours Traditional Native Games
Traditional dog day and horse games. Come run, jump and scream while learning traditional native games such as Buffalo Runner, Blackfoot Hoop and Arrow, Salish Hoop and Arrow, Stick Game, and more! K-12
