
Introduction to Mindfulness for Educators

When: Saturday April 8th
9am-3pm (with a lunch break)

Registration Cost: $139
In this workshop, we will discuss the fundamentals of mindfulness and the value of incorporating mindfulness into your classroom. With guidance from Kate you will explore and experience techniques of mindfulness. You will participate in a personal practice and ways to bring those techniques to your students.
You can expect an overview of the concepts and will take away 3 tools to use in your classroom immediately.
Our day will be broken into 2 parts. In the morning we learn our personal tendencies and work with ourselves. Asking questions like, how can I use mindfulness to reduce stress? What are practices that I like for myself?
In the second part we Continue to build on those foundations. Participants will begin to develop usable strategies for their classroom. With support from Kate you will practice teaching mindfulness skills to your peers in small groups. By the end of the day each participant will begin to create a repertoire of mindful activities for personal use and to share with students.
Expect to sit in a chair, on the floor and do some simple standing movements.
Please Bring: A journal and wear comfortable clothes.

About the host
Kate Crouch holds a Master's degree in Art Integration in Education from the University of Montana where she studied Mindfulness and Art. She has completed the Forest for Every Classroom teaching program through U of M and Montana Natural History Center. Her B.A is in Integrative Studies from Warren Wilson College.Kate is a certified Yoga instructor, with over 300 hrs in education. Currently She is a teaching artist for SPARK! Arts Missoula and conducts yoga classes in the valley. Her passion for teaching is rooted in her belief that movement, mindfulness and nature connection bring us all closer to our truest nature.
