9am-3pm (with a lunch break)
In this workshop, we will discuss the fundamentals of mindfulness and the value of incorporating mindfulness into your classroom. With guidance from Kate you will explore and experience techniques of mindfulness. You will participate in a personal practice and ways to bring those techniques to your students.
You can expect an overview of the concepts and will take away 3 tools to use in your classroom immediately.
Our day will be broken into 2 parts. In the morning we learn our personal tendencies and work with ourselves. Asking questions like, how can I use mindfulness to reduce stress? What are practices that I like for myself?
In the second part we Continue to build on those foundations. Participants will begin to develop usable strategies for their classroom. With support from Kate you will practice teaching mindfulness skills to your peers in small groups. By the end of the day each participant will begin to create a repertoire of mindful activities for personal use and to share with students.
