The workshop will cover:
  • Small successes pay off.  Find out how short, low-risk assignments pave the way for more complex writing. Lots of ideas shared for narrative and expository writing.
  • Writing with a purpose: Jazz up an ordinary assignment so students have a “let’s do it” attitude!
  • Writing across the curriculum: Bring Science and Social Studies topics to life through writing exercises that are meaningful and fun.
  • Scaffolding student writing with graphic organizers. See how organization within the paragraph and between paragraphs improves.
  • Revision, not editing: Find out 3 ways to teach students to revise at the sentence level—not merely change a word or add a comma—but rework the sentence so it’s structurally more complex and interesting.
  • Learn 5 Tips for Writers that take an ordinary piece to the next level.
