2024 BroadbandMT Rural Education Teacher Scholarship
Blackfoot Communications is excited to continue its sponsorship of the 2024 BroadbandMT Rural Education Teacher Scholarship. Blackfoot is a member of BroadbandMT, a state organization that represents the locally-owned, rural telecom/broadband providers of Montana.
As we all know and have heard over the years, recruiting, and retaining good, quality educators in rural schools is a significant problem in Montana. To help draw good educators to schools
struggling to hire and retain teachers, each year BroadbandMT will award one $1,500 scholarship to a current or incoming educator who commits to teaching for three consecutive years in eligible schools. The scholarship will renew for two additional years - for a total of $4,500 over three years for each winning educator.
The inaugural 2022 scholarship winner was Abby Stitt from Potomac School. In addition to the $1,500 scholarship from BroadbandMT, Blackfoot Communications also matched a $1,500 scholarship for Abby, for a total annual scholarship amount of $3,000 for three years (2022-2024).
In 2023, Blackfoot also awarded a $1,500 Rural Teacher Scholarship to Kyler Rutz from Dixon Elementary for a three-year period (2023-2025), for a total of $4,500.
Our Blackfoot Board of Trustees will review all the applications on April 3, 2024 at its monthly meeting and will select one application to forward onto the BroadbandMT Scholarship Committee for final review by their Board. BroadbandMT will make its selection of the 2024 scholarship winner by the end of April 2024. Blackfoot may also choose to select its own Rural Teacher Scholarship award winner in 2024.
Please share this Teacher Scholarship opportunity with your school educators (flyer attached) and encourage them to apply today!
On behalf of Blackfoot Communications Education Committee,
